Rachel Edelman, Psy.D.

Clinical Psychologist

Hi, I’m Rachel, a licensed clinical psychologist offering therapy in New York and California. If you’re looking for a therapist, have a look at my site to see if we might be a good fit to work together.

Who I Work With

Many of the people I work with are high-achieving and outwardly put together but are quietly suffering. They’re functioning by most measures while silently pushing through anxiety, sadness, or dissatisfaction. Challenges I often help people work through in therapy include:

  • Achieving externally but struggling with self-esteem.

  • Doubting yourself at work or feeling like an imposter despite positive reviews and validation.

  • Difficulty meeting internal standards.

  • Feeling motivated by fearing failure or achieving perfection.

  • Feeling disconnected from friends and family.

  • A sense that something is wrong but not being able to name it.

Approach to Treatment

My approach to therapy includes guiding you in your understanding of repeated patterns in relationships, equipping you with concrete and specific strategies to manage difficult thoughts and feelings, and providing a place for you to let your guard down. You can expect therapy to be a collaborative and personalized process. It’s a supportive space to explore what may be difficult to share with other people in your life.

I have 10 + years in specialized training and practice in the following treatments and techniques:

  • Psychodynamic therapy

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

  • Prolonged Exposure for Trauma (PE)

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills training

  • Mindfulness techniques
