Recognizing those who have served.
Healthcare professionals, First Responders, Service Members, and Veterans experience unique challenges in their lives and work places, such as:
Daily exposure to trauma and stress
Challenging moral decisions
Isolation and alienation from friends and family
Cultures that may promote discrimination based on gender identity, race, sexual orientation, and religion
Abusive leadership practices
Grueling hours, including unpredictable shift work
Rates of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and stress-related issues are high for individuals in these fields.
Whether the trauma happened recently or in the distant past, if you find yourself bothered by any of the following, you may benefit from an evidence-based trauma treatment:
Intrusive or racing thoughts and memories
Upsetting dreams
Flashbacks
Physical and psychological distress
Avoidance of typical activities, routines, people, and places
Negative thoughts about yourself, the world, other people, or the future
Overwhelming emotions
Feeling socially detached from others or detached from yourself
Difficulty experiencing positive emotions
Difficulty sleeping
