Psychotherapy
Dr. Edelman is licensed to practice in New York and California. At this time, she offers virtual sessions. In person sessions in New York City are available upon request.
You can begin the process with Dr. Edelman by reaching out to her for a free 15-minute consultation. During this phone call, you will have an opportunity to briefly describe why you are seeking therapy and what services you are looking for (and if you are not sure yet what you are looking for, that’s okay too!). Fees will be discussed and an initial appointment will be scheduled. Here is what you can expect after that:
Psychotherapy Sessions
Psychotherapy sessions are 45-50 minutes in length, once a week. Certain therapeutic approaches may require longer or more frequent sessions. Session length and treatment duration will be discussed and customized during the initial phone call and initial appointment.
Rates
Dr. Edelman’s fees will be discussed during the initial phone call.
Payment
Electronic transfers and credit cards.
Insurance
At this time, Dr. Edelman is considered an “out-of-network” provider and does not accept insurance. Monthly, you will receive a bill that contains all the information necessary for you to directly receive reimbursement from your health insurance company, if you have behavioral health benefits.
Questions to ask your insurance company to determine if you have coverage:
Am I covered for out-of-network behavioral health or mental health services?
How much of the fee does my insurance cover for an out-of-network provider? (usually a percentage)
What does my insurance company consider to be the max allowable charge for a 50-minute therapy session?
Are there any limitations to session length or number of sessions?
